Anal Catholicism

Atheist’s Wager has a nice post about sex, virginity and a very uncomfortable place. This hardly falls squarely in to the “Rituals and Practices” category, I have heard about this enough:
I have a friend who was raised a devout Catholic. When she was in high school, her boyfriend pressured her to have sex. She resisted, but ultimately wound up having anal sex with her boyfriend to keep her virginity intact.
to consider it falling in this category. It is not just Catholics, but there seems to be an inordinate representation for some reason.
Wager brings up really good biological point, there is a potential biological basis for a preference for virginity. Way back when, a male would not want to spend time/resources on offspring that are not his own, the motivation is to spread his genetic material, with a virgin he can be sure it is his DNA that he is caring for.
Of course, this works the opposite way for females, to maximize chances of perpetuating their DNA they should have as many partners as possible, and pass off the offspring as belonging to whichever male they feel most likely to be a good provider.
The net result is that religion (so often male dominated) manages to serve male interests, to a point, by emphasizing female virginity - but then goes to far, and the guys can’t get any! So, getting around this conundrum? Well, it includes getting fucked in a very uncomfortable place, and not the back of a Volkswagen. A loophole! Oh saints be praised! As long as one likes that sort of thing, which is possiblybetween 20% and 40% of us.
